    Position Overview

    As the Manager for Retail Store Development, you will work with independent store owners and managers to develop retail capabilities of the store. A key function is assisting both new and existing stores in upgrading units to maintain competitiveness in the marketplace. You will utilize your industry experience for guidance on design, equipment sales, project management, energy conservation, and understanding code requirements for the independent supermarket groups. A successful candidate must be customer focused and able to balance several projects in motion at the same time.

    The C&S Independent Sales Team manages the sales and support of over 300 independently owned customers in the northeast US. In addition to product sales we provide a wide range of support services around merchandising, retail operations, retail accounting retail pricing and category management. We have a dedicated field team of over fifty associates, internal and field teams, to provide support and guidance to our independent retail customers.


    • Manage new store development projects and expansion/remodeling projects as assigned
    • Manage all phases of store development projects, to include: cost projections, site development, layout and design, merchandising concepts, equipment/fixture selection, financial projections and operation performance analysis.
    • Provide clear direction to member retailers throughout all phases of expansion or development projects.
    • Actively market services of store development department to membership, encouraging appropriate expansion, remodeling and upgrade of facilities.
    • Maintain working knowledge of store equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, decor and lighting, construction methods and procedures, site development, market analysis and financial projections.


    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
    • Professional verbal and written communication skills. Able to read, analyze, interpret, and/or write highly technical reports, financial reports, and other documents.
    • effectively present information to top management and retailer-members.
    • Mathematics skills; Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
    • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Must have valid driver's license.
    • Must be skilled in the use of a computer and appropriate software.
