    Position Overview

    As a Transportation Representative, you will schedule, assign and dispatch routes to drivers, ensuring work is fairly distributed to the drivers, while customer service requirements are met.

    Responsibilities

    • Schedule, assign and dispatch routes to drivers. Field calls from drivers documenting issues, call-outs, changes, etc. Escalate as necessary
    • Ensure work is evenly and fairly distributed to the driver workforce
    • Relay information, instruction and/or messages to drivers
    • Promote a safe work environment
    • Talk safety with drivers
    • Remove unsafe obstacles, or escalate hazards through proper channels
    • Ensure customer service requirements are met. Adjust the driver schedule as needed to keep service level commitments
    • Address issues, questions or problems with deliveries/pickups. Escalate issues when necessary
    • Maintain all necessary trip records
    • Notify appropriate party of changes or disruptions to daily business
    • Ensure drivers operate within all DOT guidelines and regulations
    • Schedule backhaul loads to maximize efficiency 
    • Ensure payroll records are prepared and accurate 
    • Maintain attendance roster
    • Shadow supervisor preparing and/or issuing corrective action
    • On occasion, act as supervisor on duty

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Three or more years' experience in a transportation or warehousing environment
    • Basic record-keeping techniques
    • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
    • DOT and OSHA regulations
    • Telephone techniques and etiquette
    • Perform dispatching and clerical support duties for assigned department
    • Professional writtenand verbal communication skills; Able to speak clearly and distinctly
    • Understand and follow oral and written directions
    • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action 
    • Operate standard office equipment
    • Physical Demands: 
      • Continuously – Stand, sit and/or walk; communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
      • Frequently – Bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching. 
      • Occasionally – Lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 25 pounds; work around moving vehicles and/or MHE
