    Position Overview

    As a Produce Coordinator, you will inspect all perishable foods for all food safety specifications. This encompasses both C&S’s procurement specifications and government regulations at the warehouse and customer level.You will work cross-functionally with the Procurement, Inspection, Customer Inspection, and the Operations teams. 

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain quality procedures for receiving perishables at C&S operated distribution centers.
    • Inspect all inbound perishables to ensure that all suppliers shipping to C&S, comply with product quality specifications and related food safety regulations.
    • Insure that proper quantity, variety, weights, labels, and sizes are received as ordered.
    • Monitor warehouse activities that may affect product quality and safety ensuring that pallet receipt date tags are routinely checked by DC receivers (insure proper flow of paperwork, i.e. logging seals, count discrepancies, checking truck list, etc.).
    • Audit receiving, storage, and shipping practices and advise responsible parties of weaknesses or concerns.
    • Audit inventory levels and rotation to assure that products meet company freshness and quality standards.
    • Generate daily perishable inspection report indicating mis-rotations, mis-slotting, poor quality product, inventory problems, close dated or out dated product, ambient temperature problems and icing of product.
    • Full knowledge of the proper use of inspection equipment.
    • Ability to accurately report information regarding grade and condition of product.
    • Communicate with National Buyers, Turn Buyers, Inspection Team, Warehouse Team on issues or concerns and help to devise resolution.
    • Generate quality reports via company inspection program.
    • Improve the level of quality across the entire supply chain.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the QC Manager.
    • Train new Inspection Team Members to adhere to C&S/Customer Specs/Grades/Turn Requirements.
    • Coordinate any USDAs needed with Procurement Staff, Vendors and/or customer requests.
    • Work close with Banana Operation to ensure proper Ripening/Color to meet customers specs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
    • 2 years perishable retail or wholesale experience.
    • Competent knowledge of all USDA standards for meat and produce, PACA regulations, State DEC, HACCP standards for seafood and customer specifications.
    • USDA produce certification, HACCP certification is preferred
