Position Overview

As Manager of Operations Accounting, you will lead a team of finance professionals focused on initiatives aligned with C&S strategy in a fast-paced, high energy environment. Specifically, you will have responsibility for the accounting and reporting for assigned operating departments that your team services, ensure that all utilized balance sheet accounts are properly maintained and updated, execute necessary analytics and assist with the budgeting/forecasting process.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Weekly, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities for your assigned cost centers within the Operations team - ensure activity is captured in appropriate expense and balance sheet accounts, and that activity is executed to meet all time constraints.
  • Understand weekly activity at a detailed level to allow for clear, value-added reporting; assess and improve reporting to ensure reports provide value to end users
  • Guides operating departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Oversee, review and report on balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by team
  • Communicate proactively and educate others on the components of the P&L.
  • Work with analysts to ensure budget assumptions for other Operating departments are in sync
  • Sign off on KPI assumptions and inputs for the budget and forecasts.
  • Develop and communicate clear expectations for team, and provide regular feedback to ensure correct direction.
  • Challenge team to broaden their experience and abilities to support professional development.
  • Develop bench strength and leadership competencies/plans for team members.
  • Ensure all areas of department are working together, utilizing common and consistent financial assumptions & metrics.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Promote ethics and integrity in performance of self, team and department.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • At least 5 years’ progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting with 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Specialized knowledge: Microsoft Excel, Financial ERP Systems (Lawson/Oracle), Hyperion.
  • Ability to think critically and independently to solve problems.
  • Strong multi-tasking, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong management skills and ability to provide leadership to team
  • Ability to work well with all levels of team members with different backgrounds and needs.
  • Experience with Supply Chain, Warehouse/Transportation Operations a plus.
