Position Overview

As an Inbound Transportation Supervisor, you will supervise a team of transportation coordinators in performing day to day duties. Supervisor will have a primary focus on creating efficiency tools, analyzing data via various reporting databases, continuous coordinator coaching and training, and assisting in project management in areas that will increase efficiency, relationships and output in ways which align with the strategic vision.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and train team members on all aspects of TMS functions and overall transportation industry knowledge in order to make sound business and financial decisions as well as other system use that may include but not limited to: Manhattan, Mainframe, Manugistics, SCI Reporting, Oracle, Eport and Biceps among many others. Providing the team with frequent and consistent feedback/praise on progress and goals. 
  • Oversee the daily operational workflow, including any special requests, so that service requirements are met. Develop business key performance indicators and facilitate team meetings and activities that lead the team to taking action to improve performance metrics that align with department vision.
  • Oversee and execute carrier sourcing efforts, CPU reviews, and carrier management with the coordinators in effort to maintain the resources needed to support expected volume while promoting net income growth and maintaining service objectives. Coaching coordinator efforts in managing carrier service expectations and providing signature service to both internal and external partners.
  • Assist in weekly P&L prelim review to identify areas of opportunity, anomalies, and to determine and implement actions needed. Using this report and other system tools, provide examples and learning opportunities for the team to make more informed service and financial decisions and to be proactive in system maintenance.
  • Facilitate communication and build strong working relationships among operations, carriers, customer service, manufacturers, procurement, and other team members.  Coaching team members on the importance and value of building strong relationships and using the proper communication channels based on the message and urgency.
  • Maintain employee relations, track time keeping and similar supervisory duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in Wholesale Distribution and/or Transportation Logistics 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Access/SQL server, eDW/Teradata
  • This position may require travel
