Position Overview

As a Fleet Maintenance Site Supervisor, you will be responsible to ensure all asset related business is conducted in a structured manner which supports the company’s goal in customer service, equipment utilization, PM compliance, fleet services, profitability and employee/driver satisfaction while effectively managing cost and down-time.The Fleet Maintenance Site Supervisor will oversee the coordination of the fleet maintenance for C&S assets, and the day to day supervision of the vendor supplied services at the site that does not have a C&S garage.

Responsibilities

  • Run daily reports for any preventative maintenance (PM), and Federal inspections needed on trailers in the yard
  • Create and coordinate the (daily) trailer Out-of-Service list, utilizing the Fleet Maintenance system
  • Locate trailers on the yard to move, corral, and lock down on the site Red Line Pad – ensuring safety so that the Out-of-Service trailer(s) do not get used by any of the Operations Teams
  • Prioritize and supervise all trailer inspections and repairs, coordinating and approving additional work as it happens
  • Create Repair Orders (RO) in the Fleet Maintenance computer system for all work done on trailers – updating the RO’s with the service details as work is completed 
  • Gather all associated cost to a particular unit when being considered for sale
  • Delegate work to fleet maintenance vendor supplied services. Auditing and inspecting repairs to assure standards of safety and quality are met
  • Supervise the Michelin Tire Care program for the site 
  • Work with every level of employees and departments (Warehouse, Loss Prevention, Transportation Operations, Yard Operations, and any other departments as needed) reducing downtime / increasing uptime of the trailers to support the business
  • Identify and recommend actions to improve operating efficiency
  • Works closely with (Site) Shop Manager providing status of maintenance and budget requirements
  • All other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, ASE Certification preferred
  • 5 + years transportation or maintenance experience, inclusive of asset management & asset maintenance systems.
  • Computer capability to include Microsoft Suite, and an understanding of computerized vehicle maintenance systems, D.O.T. repair regulations, commercial truck/trailer components, VMRS codes.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines; ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and asset inspections (PM/PI).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience using windows, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
  • Self-motivated, self starter, dependable, punctual, aware
  • Ability to communicate complex and detailed information verbally and in writing
  • Prior office experience is a plus
  • Must be flexible to work various shifts; able to work weekends, holidays, and long hours if needed
  • Strong Decision Making Ability 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
