    Position Overview

    As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor  you will be responsible for overseing a team of clerks and mechanics and will be responsible for ensuring all equipment in use is in good working order and compliant with all operation and safety guidelines by inspecting, maintaining and repairing tractors, trailers, automobiles, light trucks, carts and materials handling equipment (e.g., forklifts and pallet jacks). The supervisor will monitor the operating results of their assigned work teams and is accountable for achieving overall operating results consistent with individual, work team and company performance goals. This position is accountable for accurate and complete records of maintenance and repairs, fuel, tire and parts purchases and inventory management in accordance with company policy, federal, state and local regulations. This leader will train team members and ensure they are provided ongoing skills development coaching to improve their job performance and advancement potential within the organization.es

    Responsibilities

    • Perform equipment inspections, schedule preventative maintenance and review vehicle and equipment failures; provide reliable and safe vehicles and equipment for use across the distribution center.
    • Ensure safe work practices and conditions; accountable for maintaining a safe environment for team members and visitors at the garage in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
    • Assess daily and weekly output of the work team and individuals, identify performance gaps and take corrective action as needed.
    • Schedule work teams and initiate short and long term planning with supervisors to ensure the assigned mechanics and support personnel meet the needs of the business under constantly changing business conditions.
    • Lead the development of improved work processes and procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness of assigned work teams, equipment and space; responsible for achieving incremental results from the implementation of these improvements.
    • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of records pertaining to maintenance, fuels, lubricants, tires and parts inventories; audit records on periodic basis.
    • Monitor fuels, lubricants, tires and parts inventories and alert the garage manager when inventories fall below required levels to maintain work team productivity.
    • Recommend replacement of vehicles and equipment based on high failure rates, wear and tear and service costs.
    • Assist in the development of individual and team performance improvement goals to support achievement of company objectives.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and coach direct reports to enhance individual and team performance.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years work experience in vehicle/equipment maintenance, parts and fuel management and/or transportation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience using windows, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
    • Self-motivated, self starter, dependable, punctual, aware
    • Ability to communicate complex and detailed information verbally and in writing
    • Prior office experience is a plus
    • Must be flexible to work various shifts; able to work weekends, holidays, and long hours if needed
    • Knowledge of trailers
    • Strong Decision Making Ability 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
